There’s a ramp which takes Dokkenator into his workplace at Paradise Banquet Hall. Along that pathway is the outdoor wedding gardens. Nothing disrupts a ceremony faster than a blasting speaker bag & strong vocals. Nothing makes his workplace arrival better than hearing cheers while singing. The words “You rock” always make his night. Even better is when they approach your bar later & ask “Were you singing while walking up the ramp? You’ve got an amazing voice. Can you make an amazing drink?” The Dokkenator never fails to accept a challenge when it comes to making killer cocktails. Two Blue Fin Martinis won their approval.

Once this amazing track was heard on Sirius XM, it was definitely a playlist “Must Have”. The guitar work by George Lynch was fabulous…especially the opening riffs. The solo was amazing as well

Dokken – Burning Like a Flame
: Never thought our love would last
For so long
Time and time again
I thought that you would be gone
Still we kept love hanging on
I guess it’s meant to be
That your heart still belongs to me
And now we’ve stood the test of time
We survived
I asked for hope and a chance
You gave the key to your heart
You used to say that i’m not sincere
I’m gonna prove that you’re wrong
I’m never gonna leave your arms
Should’ve realized before
Your love’s worth waiting for
Don’t you know that
It’s our love that’s burning
Burning like a flame
And you know that
It’s out love that’s never gonna change
’cause every time i touch you
You just make me go insane
Don’t you know that
It’s our love that’s burning
Our love burning like a flame
Like a fantasy in the dark
You were gone
I couldn’t say the words
That you wanted to hear
But baby, now that i see the light
I feel it’s burning so bright
So let’s stop wasting all this time
Should’ve seen it all before
Our love’s worth waiting for
Don’t you know that
It’s our love that’s burning
Burning like a flame
And you know that
It’s out love that’s never gonna change
’cause every time i touch you
You just make me go insane
Don’t you know that
It’s our love that’s burning
Our love burning like a flame
Should’ve seen it all before
Your love’s worth waiting for
Don’t you know that
It’s our love that’s burning
Burning like a flame
And you know that
It’s out love that’s never gonna change
’cause every time i touch you
You just make me go insane
Don’t you know that
It’s our love that’s burning
Our love burning like a flame
Our love, never gonna change

Dokkenator Gets The Crowd Singing

July 11, 2014

It’s not great finding out you’re a “last-minute” fill in for a regularly scheduled bartender. However, if there’s one thing Dokkenator has proven is that he’s always ready to step into the spotlight. The drinks were flowing & he was putting on a show. That’s how he earned the nickname “Rock Star”, and he proved it again on this night.

After 10 o’clock is when the music gets awesome. During that time the DJ was playing two classic 80’s Rock tunes from Loverboy & Bon Jovi. The first was hilarious, because the majority of guests didn’t know the lyrics to this song: https://youtu.be/TnHm4ro_l8s

Guess who stepped in & helped them out? That’s right. Dokkenator started belting the vocals & everyone joined in. Heck, it even got praise from the DJ who hollered out “Oh yeah…..that’s our bartender. He knows the lyrics.” That garnered a round of applause from everyone.

The second came from Bon Jovi. Thankfully, the majority of them already knew this song. Otherwise Dokkenator would be left scratching his head. After all, every guest he’s served knows the lyrics to this awesome 80’s track: https://youtu.be/lDK9QqIzhwk

A bartender who creates & rocks. Who knew this combination could work?

Rock hard or don’t rock at all,

The Birth Of Dokkenator

April 13, 2009

It was that wet Spring afternoon Dokkenator was created. Power came to him while listening to the Rolling Stone compilation “Headbanging Heroes of 80’s Metal”. This amazing CD featured 16 tracks from the following artists:

Poison, Twisted Sister, David Lee Roth, Warrant, Winger, RATT, Autograph, Skid Row, Cinderella, Kix, Vixen, Dokken, Enuff Z Enuff, L.A. Guns, Lita Ford & Quiet Riot.

Four of those artists signal the arrival of Dokkenator at his workplace. However, it was “In My Dreams” by Dokken which made him a household name. The vocals from Don Dokken, coupled with the 1-2 guitar combination of George Lynch & Jeff Pilson always succeed in firing him up. The entire workplace hears the following lyrics once the employee entrance opens:

Callin’ your name, but you’re turning away. Please don’t leave.
Running in circles waiting to see you in my dreams.
What can I say or do? You won’t come back we’re through.
I realized too late that baby your love has turned away
In my dreams it’s still the same, your love is strong it still remains
In my dreams you’re still by me, just the way it used to be.

It never fails to light his fire for an awesome shift. It also holds a special place in his heart. More on that in another chapter.

Why Dokkenator Does What He Does

Back in the 80’s, Dokkenator was a huge wrestling fan. He loved listening to amazing Hard Rock & 80’s Metal¬† when many of his favorites entered the arena. Those memories never left him, which is why entering the workplace with these anthems makes him a favorite among workers. The sounds blasting from his Bluetooth speakers or hearing him singing them signals his arrival.

Three tunes stood out among entrance themes:

  1. Living After Midnight, Judas Priest https://youtu.be/W48H8iMPFEM
  2. Welcome To The Jungle, Guns N Roses https://youtu.be/o1tj2zJ2Wvg
  3. Rocket, Def Leppard https://youtu.be/JRFjd1PdJqQ

The rush given when The Steiner Brothers, Midnight Rockers & Flyin’ Brian Pillman entered to those themes were the foundation for this character. Nobody gets a bigger rush making an entrance to these tunes.
